I think I’m going to upload an old movie once a week, probably on Fridays. This is a good one to get us started.
Fragmart took place in Richmond, British Columbia way back in August of 2003, just a few months after DoD 1.0 was released in retail. It was the first LAN event in which DoD had a hosted tournament.
There were only a handful of teams who were able to attend, and the event was largely over-shadowed by the infamous squadleader accusing CHAR of “cheating” while competing at the event. The hilarity ensues half way through the video. SAC (the original top clan in DoD) attended Fragmart, but did not compete in DoD.
While Fragmart was a small tournament, and the only LAN I was able to attend, it was definitely a pivotal moment in our history, and helped push the community away from pub clans and toward an era of more competitive leagues and LAN events.
