Oh not at all, in fact I encourage you in particular to try third person and tailor the camera angle to suit your play preferences.

I dont think this is possible, as its built into the game's console commands. Ive seen cheats that enable you to do it with a crosshair and things which im sure could get you vacced, but not by the console way of doing it.

This is simply not possible. Firstly, they are console commands and no console command can get you VAC banned. You might get a kick from a server for something, but no big deal. Second, if this was a rampant issue, Valve should know about this and there would threads all over the VAC forums about this issue. Since if it affects DoD, it should affect all GldSrc (HL1 Engine Games) such as CS. The only other way you were banned is if you were using a bypasser to overwrite VAC and console protections on launch.

TL;DR - Stop using cheats and then lying.

VAC Bans versus Server Bans
The best indicator that your account has been banned by VAC is if you receive this message when attempting to access a VAC-secure server:
"Your connection to this secure server has been rejected. Because of past cheating violations, you have been banned from playing on all secure servers"
If you receive an error message stating "STEAMID IS BANNED" (or other similar messages) when attempting to connect to a server, your account is not banned by VAC - server administrators may ban you from a particular server (we cannot prevent this - whoever runs the server can ban players for any reason they desire).
If you find that you are banned from a large number of servers but your VAC status is in good standing, you have likely been banned by a third-party ban tool, such as Steambans or Punkbuster. Again the commands you listed WOULD NOT get you vac banned. The games themselves would not have commands which would ban you because you decided to use one. Those commands only become valid once sv_cheats 1 is on or in servers that do not have a white/black list or Pure(Hl2 games). To say that those commands got you vac banned is a lie. There is something else that did this WHILE PLAYING IN A VAC SECURE SERVER ONLINE and not something offline. Vac typically tends to ban by recognizing files that inject themselves into the game hence why hacks etc have loaders or injectors that place it (or modify files/commands perpetually) into the game (usually ran before the game opens) and then once the game is closed it "ejects" itself.

tl;dr: Third person didn't get you guys banned. Nice try <3
